This activity is being held outside of Tompkins County but the education and outreach program running it is local (it's in my office). The contact person is Jennifer Weil, jrw85@cornell.edu. This particular hands-on science activity is lots of fun, and Mary Nelson's Youth Day BBQ is pretty amazing too. Details below.

Hi All,

It is that time of year again... *Mary Nelson's Youth Day BBQ!* For
those of you who have never attended; we go and make slime with kid who
are participating in a free celebration of the start of another school
year. The kids get free school supplies, fun activities and BBQ. Last
year we made nearly 3000 bags of slime in 5 hours. Mary has challenged
us to double that number this year. There are more that 9000 children
at this event.
The event is on Saturday August 15th from 10am - 5pm in Syracuse. We
ask that you car pool up and the NBTC will pay mileage and buy you
dinner in Syracuse (on your own). You can go out to eat at any number
of fun restaurants, bring me the itemized bill with the total and I will
have a check sent to you. If you need a ride, we have a few seats in
the NBTC van but you will have to return to Ithaca to eat out.
Please forward this to all your friends. You don't have to be a science
major. You don't have to know a thing about slime. All you need is a
smile and a willingness to have fun with a lot of kids.
Reply to jrw85@cornell if you are interested in attending and I will
send more detailed information.

Thanks,
