Description:</b><br>
The City of Ithaca is creating a walkway commemorating Ithaca's
multicultural history. The first phase of this ongoing project will
focus on Ithaca's inclusive African American history in the journey for
socal justice. The City MLK Freedom Walkway Committee, responsible for
implementing the walkway, is in the beginning stages of designing a
Southside neighborhood loop and a Northside neighborhood loop. <br>
<br>The Committee invites proposals for a logo/branding design that will
be usable for maps, letterhead, website, and PR, as well as on plaques
and sculptures/structures portraying this history.<br>
<br><b>Timeline: </b><br>August 11- Submissions Due (Alex Haley's
Birthday)<br>November 9- Winner announced.<br><br><b>Items to Submit:</b><br>Submissions
must be identified with your name, contact info, and brief proposal
description. They may be digital files or hardcopies and may include
variations to be used in different formats. Multiple proposals
(individual or collaborative) may be submitted. Applicants who wish to
discuss concepts and ideas may contact Leslie Chatterton.<br>
<br><b>Selection Process:</b><br>The MLK Freedom Walkway Committee will
propose to the City of Ithaca winning entry(ies) recommendations with
input from the City Public Art Commission and following guidelines in
Municipal Code Chapter 5 and Public Art Plan Appendix C.<br>
<br><b>Award: </b><br>The artist of the winning design will receive a $
400 honorarium. If multiple designs are chosen, each artist will receive

& electronic form. The City will own and retain rights to use in the
future. The City will not sell reproductions of the work without

using photographs of the artwork in its promotional materials. Artists
shall waive their rights under the Visual Arts Rights Act of 1990 and
Section 124.03 of NYS Cultural Affairs Laws to the extent that such
rights would preclude or constrain the right of the City to discontinue
use of the accepted artwork. Submission of proposals for this call
implies acceptance of all conditions herein stated.</font><br><br><br>
