Thanks!<br><br><br>CCE-Tompkins and TST-BOCES are partnering to offer a FREE Building Analyst Certification course from<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><b>7/25-7/29</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>for high school students and teens from any of the school districts served by TST-BOCES. 12 spaces are available; an application form and 2 letters of reference are required to be considered for this program (<i><span style="color: red; ">deadline: 6/15/11</span></i>). Students will take the National Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certification exam at the end of the course that can help them qualify for jobs in this field. Note: Age range is mostly HS but mature middle schoolers could apply, as well as post-HS (area college students)<br><br><b>Course Basics</b>: The Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst course will teach you the basic principles of physics and building science necessary to assess energy efficiency in a home, while monitoring conditions that have a direct impact on health and safety. BPI standards emphasize the 'house-as-a-system' method to inspecting a home. You will learn how to use diagnostic equipment like the blower door, infrared imaging and the combustion analyzer. This course is a balance of classroom presentations, field exercises, and self-study materials.
