Here’s what’s happening:

Finger Lakes ReUse and New Earth Living are joining forces to deconstruct
several old barns on the site of the pocket neighborhood- The Aurora
Dwelling Circle, www.newearthliving.net Deconstruction is a green
alternative to traditional demolition. In traditional demolition the entire
structure ends up in the landfill. Our mission is to dismantle the buildings
and reuse every possible component that we can. In addition to honoring the
earth and the resources we have harvested from it, we also reduce
consumption of new resources and the energy necessary to produce and process
them. Moreover, we decrease the relentless land and resource consumption of
transfer stations and our nation’s landfills. This new paradigm approach to
waste also creates new job opportunities and workforce development. On
Monday of next week ten youths from GIAC will be learning new skills in
construction and teamwork as they help us take these barns down.

Please join us next week on site! Finger Lakes ReUse is seeking volunteers
to assist with this project Monday through Thursday beginning August 1st. If
you are interested please contact Erich Kruger, Deconstruction Coordinator,
at
erich@fingerlakesreuse.org.

Also please come by and help yourself to any of the Architectural or 3-tab
shingles and rolled roofing at the back of the 3rd bay! but do it soon we
have to have the barns cleared for the volunteers by Monday.

Susan Cosentini
newearthliving.net
cosentiniconstruction.com
thelisteningworkshop.com <http://www.thelisteningworkshop.com>
6073271081

527 N Aurora St.
Ithaca NY 14850

6072771316 fax
