The workshop will take place from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. at the Tompkins County Visitors Center at 904 East Shore Drive in the Borg Warner Conference Room on the second floor. <o:p></o:p></font></span></div><p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'"><font size="3">Grant administrators for tourism grant programs will answer questions and discuss eligibility, award use, and grant application requirements and procedures. Those interested in applying in the spring 2012 grant cycle are especially encouraged to attend.<b><o:p></o:p></b></font></span></p><p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'"><font size="3">The following Tompkins County Tourism grant programs will have new funds available in the spring 2012 grant round.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Applications will be due by 4pm, February 29<sup>th</sup>, 2012 – Leap Day. <o:p></o:p></font></span></p><p><font size="3"><b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'">Community Celebrations</span></b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'"> – This grant program is designed to provide assistance to events, programs, or series of events endorsed by a municipality that are free and open to all, and are planned by community members as a benefit to the community. Maximum award: $2,000. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p><p><font size="3"><b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'">Tourism Marketing and Advertising</span></b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'"> – These grants are designed to provide a dollar for dollar match for marketing and advertising expenses for campaigns that target potential tourists whose visit is likely to result in an overnight stay. Maximum award: $5,000. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p><p><font size="3"><b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'">Tourism Project Grants</span></b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'"> - This category supports tourism generating single projects that have been in active operation for at least 3 years at the date of application. Proposed projects must demonstrate strong likelihood of generating significant visitor attendance and participation and overnight stays in County hotels, motels and B&Bs. Maximum award: $25,000<o:p></o:p></span></font></p><p><font size="3"><b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'">New Tourism Initiatives</span></b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'"> - For events or projects that have occurred less than 3 years in a row</span><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-size: 14.0pt"> and that flow from and are consistent with the County’s Strategic Tourism Plan.
