A result early conversation circles with local sustainability and social
 justice leaders in the area, Sustainable Tompkins Neighborhood 
Mini-grant program began in September of 2008, as a way to help people 
start new initiatives in the community to promote sustainability. 
Proposals are accepted and reviewed quarterly by a team of community 
members with awards ranging from $150-$750.  Application forms are now 
available and are due on <span tabindex="0" class="">September 3, 2014</span>. (To request an application form contact <a href="mailto:karen@sustainabletompkins.org">karen@sustainabletompkins.org</a>.)<br>

In June our twenty-fourth round of Neighborhood Mini-grants were awarded:<br>

 Bike Rack/to a local bike enthusiast a matching grant to purchase and 
install a bike rack for the Trumansburg Commons.<br>

‘Roots’ Sustainers of the Rainbow Healing Dance Center—to purchase 
supplies and provide transportation to teach youth about the healing and
 nutritional value of local plants.<br>

                        <td style="width:668px;height:40px;border-collapse:collapse">Project 
Localize at New Roots Charter School—to create a series of 
sustainability and food system focused ‘info art works’ to be displayed 
throughout the Ithaca area.<br>

                        <td style="width:668px;height:40px;border-collapse:collapse">Caroline Parent-Teacher Association to create natural-history discovery kits for the Caroline Wilderness Camp.<br>

Groton with the Groton Public Library—for the infrastructure for a 
community garden in Groton for public education and food production.<br>
                         </td>

Produce Preparation Workshops for Seniors--to purchase equipment needed 
to teach local seniors to prepare and eat raw vegetables.<br>

                        <td style="width:668px;height:40px;border-collapse:collapse">Latinos Festival No Mas Lagrimas –toward the rental of the Solar Stage for this annual cultural event.<br>

                        <td style="width:668px;height:40px;border-collapse:collapse">Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute to prepare maps and posters to promote their first ever Permaculture Garden Tour.</td>

The monies for the Mini-grants come directly from the community, Aigen 
Financial Services and Prudential are our sponsors, and their gift is 
supplemented by contributions from local people like you. The Park 
Foundation’s grant to Sustainable Tompkins supports the program’s 
administration.<br>
