John Labidi is a 22 years old man coming from Liberia. He was arrested as soon as he applied for asylum, shortly after his arrival in the UK  on the 1st January 2006. He has now been detained for nearly 14 months.  Liberia is refusing to issue him travel documents. His father was a US citizen but not married to his mather so the US won't take him. In the meantime John is stuck in a detention centre and has become understandably quite depressed and demoralized. He has been given address in Gosport but refused bail without sureties. He is now looking for sureties so he may be let out. As  they cannot deport him there  they can not justify keeping him in detention. 
John does not know anybody in this country except some detainees, ex- detainees and a few campaigners.
He is detained in Colnbrook near Heathrow airport
