[SSC] Membership types and contributions

Richard and Terry both raise interesting questions/make good points. I agree
that we need to have a rough estimate of ongoing costs to set a realistic
contribution level. Maybe a few of us need to sit down together and go
through likely expenditures to come up with an estimate which we can then
circulate to the whole group for discussion. I'm happy to be involved in
this.

I'd also like to revisit one of the other options we discussed in the pub,
which was the idea of setting a maximum monthly contribution and having
everyone pay what they can afford/think is reasonable within the range
£0-£50 (for example). Personally I'm a little uneasy about setting up
membership pay "bands", mainly because I feel this replicates (or at least
refers to) the existing hierarchical structures within HE which the SSC is
trying to move away from.

Cheers,
David.
