Hello all,

Interesting question, though. My first thought is, free alter-conference on the grounds! It would answer the call for multiple visions of
what education is for...though tricky to fit it onto the CD. But then we will be in the midst of what I presume will be a lot of exciting
and hard work here, and in the end I'm not entirely sure that engaging with but not within the Society for Research into Higher Education
conference in the middle of luxury resort grounds in the middle of December would be a particularly wise use of time, energy, resources, or
political imagination...

But I do think the comments from Iain and David raise very good questions about what we engage with and why, even as individuals, and also
point again to the politics of all these often taken for granted (by those who can participate) habits and practices of academic work, which
are exclusive and reproductive in so many ways. Is it better to engage seriously and critically, and does it matter if we do, or more
meaningful to withdraw energies from that sort of thing and redirect them towards be building educational possibilities elsewhere?

Is our next meeting really not until the 11th? It feels miles away! Looking forward to it. I'm hoping to get started on some serious
planning for the 'commons' summer activities...

All best,
Sarah
