Hi,

Can I just make a plea - Mozaz. this is directed at you particularly, 
but it's a serious plea to others.

There are racists who want a fight.  There are lefties who want a 
fight.  It's been going on for over a century now, this particular 
fascist-socialist fight - could we *please* not have another historical 
re-enactment in Sheffield?

The old 'anti-Nazi' tactics are of no use - fuel on the fire, in fact.  
It's exactly what the racists want.  Whilst the fight may make both 
sides feel self-important, if racism and the BNP are to be challenged, 
we have to stop playing this daft historical game.

God knows, I'm probably p**sing in the wind here: precisely those people 
who enjoy their historical re-enactments are also the ones who can't see 
how damaging it is, and are unwilling ever to change.

And can we please recall that SSF *never* recovered after one silly 
little leftie-baiting e-mail got blown out of all proportion - paranoia 
and leftie calls of 'get the baseball bats out!' quickly left the SSF 
going from an average of 30 at meetings to an average of 5.

Note that my details have since been on Redwatch - and, funnily enough, 
nothing has happened.  That's because these people are playing the same 
self-important game as those on the left who oblige them.  Everyone runs 
around like headless chickens squaking a lot, and nothing actually happens.

Which is not to say that there aren't nasty, violent people out there - 
plenty of 'em!  But I promise, you're more likely to get lamped by a 
pi**ed up person somewhere in town, or more likely in fact to get run 
over whilst crossing the road, because you were distracted by looking 
for Nazis.

If you want to go and fight the good fight, go and do it somewhere at a 
safe distance from the Sheffield Social Forum.

As I say, this does NOT mean that nothing is done:  but it means that we 
do things that are actually effective, don't damage all concerned, and 
don't lead to King Paranoia ruling the roost again.
