What are the key components of a creative city?

Charles Landry will discuss ‘the components of a creative city’ 
focusing on the challenges facing Sheffield as the core city for South 
Yorkshire. 
 
Alan Powell, editor of Sheffield Newspapers will then Chair a debate 
with Charles Landry and a panel of key regeneration and creative 
industries professionals including, Simon Evans (Creative Clusters), 
Yvonne O’Donovan (INSPIRAL), Nick Rousseau (Sheffield First Partnership)
, Zahid Hamid (Black Community Forum) and Councillor Tim Rippon (
Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Planning Policy). 
 
Charles Landry and the rest of the panel will stay on afterwards for a 
light buffet and informal networking.

Charles Landry founded COMEDIA in 1978 after education in Germany, 
Italy and the UK, and a background in forecasting and economics. He has 
worked in over 20 countries and undertaken over 180 assignments for 
national governments, international agencies and local authorities in 
the UK and abroad. His specialisms are strategic policy development, 
the economics of innovation, and city futures. His most recent 
publication is Riding the Rapids: Urban Life in Age of Complexity,
 Culture at the Crossroads: Culture and Cultural Institutions at the 
Beginning of the 21st Century (with Marc Pachter) and The Creative City:
A Toolkit for Urban Innovators.   His next book 'The Art of City Making:
Building the Creative City' is due to appear at the end of 2005.
