<P>Hi, <BR> On thursday, at 3:00Pm outside the French embassy in London, Class War have organised a demo in solidarity with the french rioters. The rioters, as far as I can tell, seem to be cut off from the established counterculture (partially as a result of the quite shocking segregation of Parisian society), so other anti-establishment groups can't really feed into what they're doing, and there's relatively little sense of the riots as part of a coherent strategy for social change.</P>
<P>I think shows of solidarity with the rioters by other european social justice groups would be constructive, and so would somehow getting in touch with residents of the banlieues (suburbs) where all this is happening, so their story can get out and we can get some sort of widespread debate going about the direction for the movement in France and europe as a whole. </P>
<P>In particular, a strong show of solidarity by the autonomous movement and the trade unions might provide the angry banlieuesards with an alternative counterculture to radical Islam.</P>
<P>Well, I'll be there. But I certainly think this issue needs a lot of discussion and appropriate action on the part of social movements in the UK - and bloody fast.<BR>Edward</P></DIV></div></html>
