skillshare will be full of activities all season long, and you're welcome as
always to come and share in the warmth. If there are activities you would
like to see happen, please get in touch.
There will be another *workshop series *happening from January through
February. If you have a skill to offer or something you would like to learn,
pretty please let us know.
The Winter Survival Strategy will be growing in the next couple of weeks, so
stay tuned.

*A Totally Secular Xmas*

Ste-Emilie is as religious as Steven Harper is fabulous. That being said,
many of us were raised to celebrate xmas as a time to get together with
friends and family, to eat too much and put other cares aside. As part of
our chosen family, we would like to invite you to come make our house a
little warmer.
There will be an Edible Art workshop from 2-4pm and a Gift Exchange at 6pm.
You can either make a gift before and bring it with you or make one
throughout the day chez nous. *Please RSVP*, and if people have allergies
please let us know that too!
Feel free to bring food to share and containers to bring home leftovers.
Warm drinks will be on hand.
We encourage people to organize other religious or cultural celebrations at
the space. Please get in touch if that sounds interesting.

OMG, what are you doing for New Years??!? Probably coming down to the
skillshare for some nice times.
Think: Potluck/ low key / chill out/ hang out evening. Sound alright?
There'll be food to share, probably beverages to share. Games, DJs, friendly
folks + no strobe lights, no cover.
Look out, 2011, we're ready for you!

*Twelve Hours of John Waters*
When: Sunday, January 16th, 2011
Where: Ste-Emilie Skillshare, 3942 rue Ste-Emilie
From: 10am
To: 10pm
Why: Imagine eating a single fry of poutine and trying to call that a
meal. When you really need a greasy, imobilizing and salty treat, the only
thing more disgusting is John Waters, who must be overindulged in for full
appreciation. The battle cry of "filth is my politics, filth is my life"
cannot be lost to the future degenerations. Our only resolution this new
year is to keep up the norm bashing, shame smashing and hate trashing that
has inspired us since day one.
10 - 11:30 Pink Flamingos
11:30 - 1 Female Trouble
1 - 2:30 Desperate Living
2:30 - 4 Polyester
4 - 5:30 Hairspray
5:30 - 7 Cry-Baby
7 - 8:30 Serial Mom
8:30 - 10 Pecker

*Night-Vision study group
*In the same vein as J. Sakai's "Settlers: the Myth of the White
Proletariat," "Night-Vision: Illuminating War & Class On The Neo-Colonial
Terrain" examines the class/gender/race system called white supremacy and
heteropatriarchy from an historical perspective. Unlike many of the academic
books out there, Night-Vision makes complex ideas easier to understand.
How could Europe afford to invade the Americas, also called Turtle Island?
Why has the U.S. become the heart of empire? Come participate to find out!
Local publisher Kersplebedeb has kindly donated eight copies of this book to
the Skillshare. Space is limited, therefore, this time around.
If you are available every Monday night in January, from 7-9pm, *please RSVP
*and let us know you'll be attending.
