[Ste-em] February Film Series

As part of the Winter Survival Strategy, in conjunction with Emergency
February Party, supported by A Friend In Need and brought to you by the
letters J and X and the number 7, we are showing two movies *every
Sunday*in February.
False spring is over, real spring is months away.  Watch some movies with
us, and spring gets a month nearer.
Some of the movies might pick you up or get you down.  If you need to talk,
buddies from A Friend In Need will be around to keep you company and provide
active listening.
All the movies are pay-what-you-can, and hot chocolate (vegan and non-) will
be available.
February's the worst, but we can get through it together.

The film is set in the 1950s in a large country residence, as a family and
its servants are preparing for Christmas, when the master of the house is
discovered dead in his bed, with a dagger stuck into his back. The murderer
must be one of the eight women in the house at the time, and in the course
of the investigations each has a tale to tell and secrets to hide.
Blahblah, it's a musical, lots of hot older ladies, and, ooooh, things get
tense.

Billy is taken to the boxing gym by his father, but he finds out that he
doesn't really like the sport. Part of the boxing gym is used by a ballet
class because their usual studio in the basement of the sports centre is
being used as a soup kitchen for the striking miners. He is drawn in by the
ballet teacher, and with her help, secretly starts taking ballet class.
Billy's father finds out after the boxing teacher makes comment of Billy's
absence. Billy is then forbidden to dance but continues secretly because he
is becoming passionate about it.  Boom, another musical!  And class strife!!

Yiu-Fai and Po-Wing arrive in Argentina from Hong Kong and take to the road
for a holiday. Something is wrong and their relationship goes adrift. A
disillusioned Yiu-Fai starts working at a tango bar to save up for his trip
home. When a beaten and bruised Po-Wing reappears, Yiu-Fai is empathetic but
is unable to enter a more intimate relationship. After all, Po-Wing is not
ready to settle down. Yiu-Fai now works in a Chinese restaurant and meets
the youthful Chang from Taiwan. Yiu-Fai's life takes on a new spin, while
Po-Wing's life shatters continually in contrast.

Ed Earl Dodd. When crusading television reporter Melvin P. Thorpe decides to
make the illegal activity an issue, political ramifications threaten to shut
them down.

The movie looks at young people's lives in Tel Aviv through the POVs of gays
and straights, Jews and Arabs, men and women. It all begins when Noam, a
young Israeli soldier, serves in the reserve forces and meets at a check
point a Palestinian young man called Ashraf. Following an incident during
which Noam misplaces his ID card at the check point, Ashraf shows up on the
doorstep of the apartment that Noam shares with a gay man and a straight
woman. How will the meeting affect all of their lives?  Obviously
rom-comically.

to the prison to hear the confession of Simon Doucet, a dying inmate. But
Doucet in fact has a very different revelation for Bilodeau: he has enlisted
his fellow inmates to stage a play set in 1912, when Bilodeau and Doucet
were childhood friends.  Can-Con, Con-Québ and full of men in drag.  Yup.
