community-based health-care model, which includes training and assisting
local medical staff and supporting initiatives that are focused on community
empowerment. Following the recent earthquake that wreaked havoc on the
nation, PIH has collaborated with community medical professionals to deliver
emergency medical treatments and has issued a statement calling for any
international aid to be rooted in respect for the human rights of Haitians.

ground includes providing psycho-social support for people dealing with
trauma.
