> On November 26th the* Rough Diamond* crew is throwing a party to launch
SISSY, the annual calendar from *Bitch Magazine* illustrator* Elisha Lim*.
The event is also a fundraiser for its venue: the *Ste. Emilie Skillshare*

Elisha Lim launches the 2012 Sissy Calendar, As featured in Bitch Magazine!
The Sissy calendar features 12 months of brave and beautiful queers talking
about sequins, glitter, femininity, insults, courage, happiness and femme
pride.
With models from London, Berlin, Montreal and Toronto each expressing their
own siss-tacular identities, in their own words. Including readings by
Montreal's own pinups: Erika, Robyn and Kama!

Montreal based *Elisha Lim* is a graphic novelist described in the Toronto
Star as "a Celesbian," and praised by *New York Times *bestselling author
Alison Bechdel, for writing that, says Bechdel, "breaks my heart." Lim's
Calendar, which has been acclaimed by *Bitch Magazine*, is called "Sissy"
because it features monthly illustrations of 12 queer pin-ups who each
reclaim the word sissy, for its flamboyance, fierceness and femme pride.

*ROUGH DIAMOND* are Montreal based hip hop party promoters, who have been
featured on the CBC *Homerun* program as organizers who "love hip hop but
don't hear their own narrative, and decided to put the shows on
themselves". Gay newspaper *Xtra* quoted them as "the only party collective
booking exclusively queer hip hop acts, which have been at the forefront of
rap since the 80s."

The event is also a fundraiser for its venue: the Ste. Emilie Skillshare.
The *Skillshare* is Montreal's equivalent of art-without-borders - an
entirely community sustained art studio and workspace, that has run out of
St Henri since 2005. It's a community gathering space for screen-printing,
photography, sewing and zine-making workshops, as well as parties and music
events, and is the only one of its kind in Montreal by and for queer
people, people of colour, and community organizations working towards
social justice.
