Dear friends of Saint Emily's Skillshare,



I’m writing to invite you to participate in the very FIRST *National
Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR) Youth Action Gathering*, which will be
happening in *Montreal from 31 August to 2 September 2012* on the theme of “
*Engaging Newcomer Youth in Participatory Media for Social Change.” *



Hosted by the Maison des jeunes de Côte-des-neiges, the Gathering will
bring together about 80 refugee and im(migrant) youth (25 and under), youth
workers and allies from across Canada to take part in action-oriented
workshops on a variety of newcomer youth issues, including issues faced by
LGBTQ youth. It will be an important opportunity to connect with other
passionate young people, share struggles and strategies, and increase the
momentum that drives us to effect positive change in our communities. The
Gathering is *free *and all *meals will be provided! *There will also be
fun social activities in the evenings with good food, music, dancing and
performances.



Due to limited funds, we can only accept about *80 participants, so hurry

jeunes nouveaux arrivants dans les médias participatifs pour le changement
social. »*

Accueillie par la Maison des jeunes de Côte-des-neiges, cet événement
rassemblera environ 80 jeunes réfugiéEs et (im)migrantEs (25 ans et moins),
intervenantEs jeunesse et alliéEs provenant de part et d’autre du Canada
lors d’une série d’ateliers portant sur une variété d’enjeux auxquels font
face les jeunes nouveaux arrivantEs, y compris les jeunes LGBTQs. Ce sera
une occasion rêvée de rencontrer d’autres jeunes personnes passionnées, de
partager nos luttes et nos stratégies et d’augmenter l’élan qui nous pousse
à promouvoir le changement social dans nos communautés.


*L’inscription est gratuite et tous les repas seront fournis!* Nous
planifions aussi des activités sociales en soirée avec de la bonne bouffe,
musique, danse et performances.
