Hello Friends of Ste-Emilie! Happy Winter!

It's time again for the winter workshop series at the Ste-Émilie
Skillshare! We've already gotten off to a great start with our
Potato-Stamping workshop last Saturday -- here's what else we have planned!

The schedule is ever-evolving as we add new workshops to the list! If you'd
like to suggest a workshop - or better yet, facilitate one - please email
Sidetracks collective member Amber Dearest at amber.norrean at gmail.com.

All workshops ask for a sliding scale donation of $5-$15 to cover materials
and donate toward the space, with the exception of Screenprinting 101,
where we recommend $15-$30.

♥ Sun. Jan. 5th - SCREENPRINTING 101
1-4pm

Join us for our monthly screenprinting 101 workshop. Learn the basics of
screenprinting including basic image preparation, coating and burning
screens, and printing single layer images on to paper or fabric.
Screenprinting is an easy and fun way to reproduce a printed image
beautifully and for cheap. Ste-Emilie has a fully equipped screenprinting
studio to produce posters, patches, t-shirts, zine covers, etc. on a
sliding scale/pay-what-you-can basis.

To support our space, we ask for a donation of $15-$30 for this workshop,
or pay-what-you-can.

Spaces are limited so please RSVP at sidetracks.team at gmail.com

♥ Thurs. Jan. 9th - SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: GIIBWANISI 6:30-8:30pm
We are very excited to welcome Giibwanisi, co-founder of ACTION (Anishinabek
Confederacy To Invoke Our Nationhood) and the Oshkimaadziig Unity Camp. He
will be speaking about his own decolonization process and the history and
goals of these two projects.

♥ Sat. Jan. 11th - FEMME SKILLSHARE / UNUSED MAKEUP SWAP
2:30-5:30pm
(https://www.facebook.com/events/554759127944799/?source=1)

Femme skillshare taught by the weirdo femmes sitting in front of mirrors at
3am practicing the perfect eyeliner wings and learning how to cover dark
circles in glitter in the a.m. Femme shit is real skills, and we want to
hang out and share and talk about it and share our long-practiced craft,
whether you've gotten the 3am chance or not!

Doing your makeup 'wrong' is a totally real fear- but we aren't necessarily
teaching the 'right' or 'professional way', just the tricks we've learned
on how to look good/really bad or whatever thing you are going for, and
talk about what this "right way" would involve and then also how to just
use the side of your finger and some spit to do the same thing. You
DEFINITELY don't have to ID as femme to come learn new makeup tricks, but
it will be a femme-centric workshop.

On the docket: eyeliner, eyeshadow techniques; eye-bag covering; eyebrows;
makeup colour theory; drag makeup; emergency makeup preparedness (aka
taking off your makeup in a jiffy/applying on the bus).

This workshop will be facilitated by Frankie and Ve, if you have a specific
skill you might like to share send a message to Frankie at
frankie.franxx at gmail.com

Bring unused makeup to swap afterwards!

♥ Sat. Jan. 18th - DIY HAIRCUTTING 2-5pm
It's easy to cut your own hair! This workshop will be given by
non-professionals, and go over basic haircutting techniques with electic
clippers, razor, and scissors. The facilitators are both self-taught, and
have been cutting their own and their friends' hair for years.

♥ Sat. Jan. 25th - PANEER-MAKING (**Atelier Bilingue!**)
2-5pm

Come learn how to make cheese with the Gardening Network of the Southwest
and Verdun! Paneer is a versatile cheese that can be made in two hours,
start to finish. Whether you spread it on crackers, fry it up or add it to
a curry, it's just delicious! Also on the menu sheep (or buffalo!) milk
yogurt cheese and nut "fauxmage". Bilingual, hands-on workshop with
tastings. Pay-what-you-can donation.

moyens.

♥ Sat. Feb. 8th - ANTI-CAPITALIST NEIGHBOURHOOD MOBILIZATION IN THE
SOUTHWEST
2-5pm

In the past two years there have been some important anti-capitalist
mobilizations happening in the southwest, with the APAQs during the strike,
and with the beginning of neighbourhood contingents for downtown demos in
2013.

Two organizers from these mobilizations (Maria and Cleve) will share some
of our experiences and reflections. This will include things we have
learned that are useful for this kind of organizing, as well as broader
discussion of recent efforts to build radical analysis and militancy on a
neighbourhood basis.

♥ Sat. Feb. 15th - TBA

♥ Sat. Feb. 22nd - EMBROIDERY
2-5pm. Description TBA.

♥ Sat. Mar. 1st - FERMENTATION
2-5pm

Step back in time to the days of pre-refridgeration. Learning the how-to's
of basic fermentation - the wild way to preserve of foods. Fermentation
increases the digestibility and the nutritional content of foods as well as
having multiple health benefits. Together we can learn how to make basic
pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi, ginger beer and yogurt. Your tummy will love
you very much for it and you may even enjoy yourself!

The revolution will not be microwaved.
