A film showing to raise money for the Vestas workers and the workers' movement on the Isle of Wight, sponsored by Battersea and Wandsworth TUC and Workers' Climate Action. Rocking the Foundations is the story of the New South Wales Builders Labourers Federation. After a period of "civilising the industry" by fighting over basic workplace issues in the 1960s, in the 1970s the New South Wales BLF developed militant environmental and social politics. This included imposing "green bans" on environmentally and socially damaging construction projects. Before they were smashed by their government and their Stalinist national union leadership, the "BLs" started taking action on the Vietnam war, women's rights and gay rights!

In a period when the Vestas workers' struggle has put the links between environmentalism and class politics, and the project of building a "red-green"

coalition, back on the agenda, this inspiring story is more relevant than ever.
