IRC LOG, edited to shorten:

<max> ok - but where's the freesoftware/geek/tech angle?

<k40z> it makes a connection that has long been at the heart of mamny
organisation attempts..

<k40z> the connection between Freedom of Movement and Freedom of
Information

<k40z> the analogies and parallels and lessons to be learned across this
divide is helpful

<k40z> eye-opening and useful for taking the Free Software concept into
tangible realms, such as hardware, bandwidth and potatoes in the end
analysis

<k40z> the film can start a debate about the convergence of the struggle
for freedom of mov. and freed. of info

<k40z> we used it at Oekonux for discussion in May in Vienna... it was
good for discussion..

<max> so does it explicitly make that connection, or will you be making
that discusion in a post-video discussion?

<k40z> it requires an introduction, in which you can twist or turn the
focus in a variety of directions, then the film..

<k40z> ..

<k40z> and then general impressions lead to discussion...

<k40z> and expressions and then when it subsides as an immediate outlet
of anger and all the rest of it, clarifications etc.

<k40z> you can move towards ideas around building bridges between
movements etc.

<k40z> and between sharing of tactics and straetgies

* chrisc things it should be added to the wiki!

<chrisc> thinks even!

* k40z thinks that chrisc always says that :)

<k40z> ok, i will add it as a suggestion..

<chrisc> hehe

* chrisc could be replaced with a small shell script ;-)

<max> so it doesn't mention any techie stuff in film then?

* k40z sometimes thinks he might be ....

<k40z> no, that is the best part of it, in terms of fitting AktiviX..

<k40z> after a day in front of the screen you dont reeally want to see
mnore computers

<max> :-)

<max> just feel we should focus a little

<max> the other 254 days of the year i can be non-computer activist

<k40z> it is a film by activists, for activists about activists and in
may ways it could be good for hacker/nerds/geeks to see that there are
other and worse struggles than patents :)

<max> that weekend i can indulge in my geekiness

<max> [but you're right about patents]

* k40z thinks that it needs to be more political than conventional
geekiness allows..

<k40z> you have better option in mind?

<k40z> RMS on a weblink?

<max> we could show the matrix - it's got that pseudo crack of ssh in
there...

<k40z> matrix....but it is not exactly a Copyleft film is it?

<chrisc> hehe

<k40z> whatever film we show it has got to be Indymedia styled or CC
licensed or something?

<chrisc> that is a good criteria to use for screenings :-)

<k40z> or am i off the wall here?

<chrisc> no, it makese sense to me :-)

<k40z> we make special point of starting the film with an anti
proprietary statement,...

<k40z> this one has CC license, with NoCommercial, as you know ;.)

<chrisc> hehe, well i thin it would be good to show some films if people
want to watch them

<max> so we couldn't show revolutionOS

<chrisc> also we should have a party on the say night

<max> party!
