this came to aktivix-request, but should be here. so herewith.
the problem can (most likely) be solved by choosing to use TLS (instead
of SSL) to securely download your emails (in server settings).
hope that helps,
cheers,

Hi folks
I was getting my aktivix mail delivered to Outlook on my work desktop,
though it
seems to have stopped working without me changing any of the settings.
Has anything changed with the server?
If nothing has changed your end please let me know (by reply - I haven't
subscribed to this list) and I'll hassle our IT guys. Settings info below if
you're keen.
Many thanks,
Kev
Fyi, the settings I'm using in Outlook are:
springnight.burngreave.net for both incoming and outgoing
SSL selected for incoming (port 995)
outgoing uses same authentication settings as incoming, except SSL (port 25)
My uni mail comes in via a Microsoft Exchange Server, which I guess is
communicating with springnight too. On testing the account settings I'm told
that 'Outlook could not connect to the incoming mail server (POP3)'. But the
settings were working last week! (I tried a test without SSL, via port
110, and
the server connected but my password wasn't recognised.)
