I just tried from my non-aktivix address and I also got a bounce, but
the reason given was somewhat different:

| activistmediation at activix.org                                                 
| SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<activistmediation at activix.org>:
| host mail.activix.org [209.123.145.253]: 550-"The recipient
| cannot be verified. Please check all recipients of this 550
| message to verify they are valid."         

Seems like a misconfiguration issue.
