I have never used any proxy registration service. Most of my domains
are .org.uk where (if you are non-trading individual) you can choose
to have your address omitted from the whois service. I don't think
you get that option with .org domains.

I just looked at the DomainsByProxy Legal Agreement on their
site and it does say that you retain the right to transfer the
domain.

It might be best to find a registrar (I use www.mythic-beasts.com)
and ask them to take over the domain for you. They don't charge
to take over a .org.uk but they charge 10 quid for a .org domain.
They might be able to handle most of it for you, but DBP should
still contact you directly for authority to proceed.

By the way, it is best to give a real address because, with .org.uk
for example, Nominet sends out a letter to the registrant's address
and if you don't receive it and respond to it then I don't think
your agreement with them is valid.
