[Anarchafeminists] Democracy Village statement going out to press

Following the fabulous carnival of life and death on Mayday, Parliament Square has been occupied!We have a camp and the police are being extremely respectful and polite. It smells like a vacuum of power. Several heroes of the revolution braved the terrible rain overnight to maintain the camp, and it is now under construction being made into a village, as you can see from attached photos.
Statement below has been agreed this afternoon to go out to press. The village welcomes all visits, support and particularly people who can stay overnight -- there are spare tents plus some bedding down there, but don't hesitate to bring your own and be comfortable -- stuff won't get nicked, people are there all the time. Help on May 6 election day p.m./eve specially needed.

Parliament Square


We, the concerned citizens
of the Democracy Village on Parliament Square, demand on behalf of the majority
of people that the war in Afghanistan is ended and the troops are brought home
with immediate effect.



The Democracy Village calls
all like-minded concerned citizens to come and join us. We are calling a Strike
for Peace until our demands are met. We are committed to maintaining an ongoing
presence on Parliament Square.



All are welcome to come and
stay for a few hours, a day, or a night.

Donations of food and
equipment are very welcome. Bring a sleeping bag and tent if you plan to stay.



In this election, no major
party has offered the choice to end this pointless war.
