Two lovely events this weekend at the Feminist Library

December 12th 7pm-9pm. A Woman's Poor Imagination: Composition, Canon and Gendered Reception.

http://feministlibrary.co.uk/2014/12/a-womans-poor-imagination-composition-canon-and-gendered-reception/

A lecture/workshop exploring the history, performance and public awareness of women composers in the Western classical music canon. How do our ideas of gender influence what we hear, and what we want to hear? How are women composers taught, if they are taught at all? How can we best move forward?

Ursula's Arrow - Sarah Dacey, CN Lester, Toby Carr and Aileen Henry - was formed with the aim of bringing a modern sensibility to early music. Performing works by female composers and investigating the gendered nature of the classical music canon, UA also composes and commissions new works for period instruments.
