Breaking the Frame - Politics of Technology Gathering 2015

 

EVENT ASSISTANT, LONDON

 

Breaking the Frame is seeking a person to start immediately, working up until 17th July 2015, to assist in organising our residential gathering, which will take place near Sheffield, July 9-12 2015.

 

This is a valuable opportunity to gain experience in event organising and administration, as well as to build up a strong network of contacts in the environmental and political sectors. You will also have an enjoyable weekend attending and working on the event, which will involve discussions, workshops and evening entertainment.

 

The role will initially be for 10 hours per week at £10 per hour, but this may change, dependent upon finances.

 

The role would suit someone with an interest in political and environmental issues, as well as science and the arts.

 

The role will include:

.     event administration and support

.     outreach to activists and organisations

.     assisting the project organiser as necessary

.     minuting meetings

 

The role will be managed by the project organiser.

 

You will be able to work from home some of the time, and sometimes at our office in Hackney, and will be asked to attend some evening meetings.

 

Essential criteria:

.     administrative experience

.     excellent personal skills with the ability to engage with a wide variety of people 

.     excellent written and telephone communication skills

.     knowledge of political and environmental issues and sympathy with the aims of Breaking The Frame

.     able to attend and work at the event near Sheffield, July 9th-12th 2015.

.     own telephone and computer for working from home

.     experience of using social media

.     able to work constructively on tasks from home with minimal direction

.     ability to take instruction, but also to take the initiative when necessary

.     event experience

.     website skills

.     video and audio skills

.     connections in the fields of environment and/or politics
