Has anyone stopped to ask, Who is it that is speculating against the Greek government,? then the Irish government,? then the Portuguese...?
against sterling in the seventies, the franc in the fifties, the euro to-day.... It is not the next vulnerable currency we need to support. It is the speculators we need to identify and withdraw support from. (Dont tell me, " its the markets stupid" cos un rigged market doesn't exist. The press , the government and the people are being led up the garden path by the city speculators.

Yes it also then brings up the democratic deficit of Avaaz itself...
If Spain hits the rocks it's game over it seems, Belgium is small fry in comparison.
Interesting times with the demise of the Euro looming, end of the euro, end of the European Community as we know it can only be a good thing.

I don't normally go for these, as real democracy is deeper than referenda powers but this seems like a sensible use of e-petitioning. Presumably Avaaz, with its big e-following could become very powerful with this ECI mechanism in place...
