[Campaignforrealdemocracy] Democracy / Occupy in Southwark

Hi Everyone

I will be meeting again with the team at

at their offices in Bermondsey.

At my last (excellent) meeting there it was agreed that it would be a good
idea to develop a front-line engagement project in the area around the
team's offices ( ie Southwark ). Some of the proposals that went with that
included
- going door to door to chat about the system / corruption of democracy and
sharing the story of D2015 so far (values worked out, now onto policy
discussions and popular engagement)
- tweeting, FB-ing and working with localised / other social media
generally about the chats and encouraging the same in the people we talk
with
- setting up a micro site say a ning or something to allow ourselves and
the people we talk to to continue discussion and build a network of support
- working our out local issues while also encouraging the broader
discussion about the state of national politics / economics
- having stalls at local events and so forth and getting local news coverage
- building towards the setting up of a local assembly

In addition we are
- being inspired by local campaigns such as barnet citizens, frome ( see

)
 and hope to help generate a really democratic national movement and
electoral strategy out of it all

Would other Occupiers be interested to find out more or get involved in any
of this, including especially the Southwark initiative ?
