[Cc-webedit] Front page

Hi Neil,

I've CC'd the webedit mailing list because I don't think this should
be a private discussion.

I got a call from Penny who is the media contact for the coal caravan.
She was very frustrated that despite the coal caravan now being a
working group of the climate camp, it was not receiving the prominence
on the website that something like the G20 received. She felt that
this did not reflect the mood of the Brighton gathering, and that
people there wanted to support the coal caravan. Which includes
promoting it on our website, especially as it is something which is
happening *now*. (When the G20 was happening, that was what was
promoted on the front page.)

Penny sent out press releases last night, which will be being read
this morning, so she wanted the issue to be resolved last night so
that people & press who visit the website will be able to see
information about the coal caravan. With the previous version of the
front page there is only a tiny link saying "Coal Caravan Progress"
(and a massive image linking to the coal newspaper which seems quite
incongruous on the front page).

I did my best with the limited time available, and made a judgement
that it was reasonable to promote the coal caravan prominently on the
front page while it is happening, as this is what we have done for
other climate camp projects in the past. I accepted that I may have
missed the mark in this judgement and so sent the message that I did
to the cc-webedit list, so people could make their remarks if
necessary. In contrast, I rarely see other people reporting changes to
the cc-webedit list for discussion.

I am very unhappy with the fact that you have simply reverted my
changes, without any prior attempt to contact me. I think you should
have tried to make contact, and failing that you should have tried to
balance the changes I made with your own vision of the front page,
instead of simply over-ruling me and reverting my changes.

I am going to inform Penny about what has happened, as she will no
doubt be very frustrated when she looks at the page again and sees it
identical to how it was yesterday. I'm not available for the next
hour, but please consider my comments and if you (or anyone else)
