[Cc-webedit] question/press articles/website aim + narrative

Hi there,

A few
points/questions, to whom it may concern:

1) Neil, I’m happy to start looking after
press articles. That could actually get me started in this webgroup.

2) Question regarding climatecamp web pages:
I assume it is possible to get a page with the address
www.climatecamp.org.uk/coalcaravan? If so, can this address only contain
content in the existing template, or could this address directly link through
to a rather different looking page (hosted at another location if needed). FYI the coal caravan have put together a nice
little website, but they are looking for a more appropriate web address.

3) On the ‘aim’ of the website and some other
ideas: I agree that at least one of the most important aims if the site is to
be an outreach tool, but I guess that term can be interpreted in a wide range
of ways. My personal thoughts were that this year the site should perhaps show a clear ‘narrative’ related to the cc strategy
as decided in Oxford (“In 2009 Climate Camp will highlight the fact that the
failed economic system has caused climate change and that proposals to use
similar systems at COP and elsewhere are doomed to fail.”). I think this should
certainly also include a concise, but very prominent educational aspect (e.g.
why carbon trading is not a good idea).

I think a
time-line as drawn at the Oxford gathering could be an illustrative structure
to work from. It may be interesting to have a line like that at the front page
(e.g. greying when events have passed), but I guess it will require a full makeover
of the site and I’m not really sure if that’s in the planning...

4) Next
thing, therefore: does anyone think there should be another webgroup meeting
happen apart from the working group time at the next gathering? Personally I
think the website has an important role to play in the activities of the
climate camp this year and make sure present them to the outside world as meaningful
and coordinated. I could imagine we need more than just working group time at a
gathering to achieve that, but please, say so if I’m seeing things to
complicated...

Oops, that
was loads of text... Hope it was of use/you can answer some of the questions.

Thanks,

Flr
