That's great Barry, thanks for doing this.
I'd suggest adding emptyshop.org - they're into community arts &
regeneration, and have a city-centre HQ with a bar in that has posters
on the wall (and I would recommend as a nice place for a drink - we
should probably meet up there sometime). Also, there's a new upcycling
group associated with Transition Durham; they've got a low-tech focus
but there could be some interesting synergies with our project. I'm
planning to go to their next meeting.
There are probably some geeky meetups we should include, but I haven't
found them yet. I've made a contact with the student's union, but of
course they're all finishing their exams and heading off for summer.
Fingers crossed though, we may get some postgrads.
As for how far out from the city we should go, perhaps start with a
small radius, then if we're not fully booked after a week, expand it?
What do other people think?
In the interests of me getting fit and keeping our carbon footprint
small, I'm happy to go around doing some visits by bike, but I guess
the ideal thing would be for those of us who live near to these places
to be visiting the ones near where we live or work.
Anyone else got any thoughts?
