[dfs3] That's disappointing

Hi All,
You may remember me posting at the end of last year about a community
centre in Spennymoor called The Settlement. They run computer training
courses, and had three old unused Windows laptops that I offered to
upgrade to Linux. I only managed to do one machine before the courses
stopped for their Christmas break. I went back today to upgrade the
remaining two machines but was asked not to bother. The course leader
explained that Microsoft is offering free upgrades to Windows 10, of
both hardware and software, for local community training organisations.
They do not want to risk their chances of getting free new machines by
putting non-Microsoft software onto the old machines. They may keep the
one machine, that is already converted, as a teaching aid.
This is disappointing as it is unusual to meet a trainer that has both
heard of linux and is also interested in giving it a try, but you cannot
argue with the offer of free brand new machines. I have left the contact
details for DFS3 with them, more in hope than expectation.
