Hi Anthony,

It is OK to ask me about problems that you have with Ubuntu or other
versions of Linux, though it would be best if you replied (or posted
questions) to the mailing list address:-

dfs3 at lists.aktivix.org

...then everyone on the mailing lists will see your question and can
join in with trying to help you.

Now lets try and get your machine working properly. Firstly, what is the
make and model of the computer in question, and what version of Ubuntu
did your friend install on it? The full version of Ubuntu is quite
demanding so may not work well on low powered machines.

I do not understand why you have to keep entering your router password
because Ubuntu should remember the password from the first time that you
connected. Can you tell me exactly what you do to connect to your wi-fi?

Finally, it is relatively easy to fix the Flash and BBC iPlayer problem:
You need to go onto the Ubuntu Software Centre (the icon looks like an
orange shopping bag with the letter 'A' on it). Then type in:-

ubuntu restricted extras

Highlight the option and then click on the 'Install' button. This will
install a lot of different things, including Flash player, MP3 music
file capability, and Microsoft fonts. You may get a pop-up window which
asks you to agree to a licence agreement for Microsoft fonts, and you
must accept this for the install to complete. You should be able to play
BBC iPlayer after all these things have been installed.

Regards,

Barry T
