Kink Tank topic for 10.25:
(to be held at Sugar Mountain @ 2670 E. 13th Ave.

 Fuck Binaries!

Many folks have already figured out that the “Gay/Straight” and
“Male/Female” dichotomies are nothing but restrictive binaries put in
place to limit expression and freedom and to enforce the status quo.
While this discussion is of course open to everyone regardless of how
familiar they already are (or not) with the concept of fucking with and
existing outside of binaries, this discussion will be so much more than
the basics, for those of you who think you already know all about
binaryfucking! Tonight, by popular demand, we will be revisiting and
expanding on this topic by discussing the following or similar intriguing
questions (with a sex-positive/sex-radical perspective): What is the
difference between “Gay” and “Queer?” Can you have “straight gays” and
“queer gays?” How about heteroqueers? Heteroflexible and homoflexible?
How are radical queers different from assimilationist queers?
Heteroqueers from other straight folks? Does “queer” only have to do
with the genders/sexes of the people we are attracted to, as well as where
our own gender is, or can it also invoke the many other weirdandwonderful
ways that we love, live, fuck, and express ourselves, e.g. being
poly/non-monogamous, kinky, slutty, fetishistic, sex-positive,
sex-radical, freegan, nerdy, anarcho, sapiosexual, non-conformist, furry,
drag performers, naturists, artists, and so much more.

Also, what about the binary between “Friends” and “More than Friends,” the
“Platonic/Non-Platonic” binary? Are our relationships really that
simple? Do they need to be? How do our relationships, desires,
attractions, and crushes shape our identities? Do the words “crush” and
“attraction” even
mean the same things to sex-positive folks as they do to the general
population? How can we expand our concepts of identity, of desire, of
eroticism, of intimacy, so that we can learn to love
ourselves/partners/friends/lovers/community in even more profound and
joyful ways, ways by which we can truly connect with others and be free?

Please note that this discussion is for everyone, not just folks who
identify as queer, trans, kinky, poly/non-monogamous, or otherwise
freakydeaky. Also note that this will NOT be a closed class (so we will
not be closing the door after 15 minutes, you can come in any time,
although really you won't want to miss any of it), and despite what it
says on the freeschool website, this class is NOT an RSVP class, so please
feel free to show up even if you didn't RSVP! See you there!

Other upcoming stuff! Kink Tank will be hosting a group discussion
following the Denver screening of the Bike Porn movie (don't ask, just go
to bikesmut.com). Please note that while the Bike Porn screening is
incredibly sex-positive and sex-radical, it is NOT a free event(but worth
it, promise), but the Kink Tank Bike Porn discussion will be oh-so-free!
But we hope to see many of you both places anyway! The screening will take
place Friday night (10.30) at 9:00pm at Denver Bound, and the Kink Tank
discussion will go down probably at 7pm Sunday (11.01) at Sugar Mountain,
unless we change anything.

One last thing! If you want to get updates specific to Kink Tank, topic
announcements and such, please let us know so that we can stop spamming
the freeschool listserv every two weeks. Also soon we will start posting
the topics up on the freeschool website, but we don't really have a way of
doing that this week, sorry. Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime
though!

Love and Be Free,

your Kink Tank facilitators
