The quaker meeting house is nice but costs loadsamoney, or at least would do
for a whole day(s?), and would not offer that much room if limited to the main
hall. I think Mappin Centre for the Blind would be perfect if we had the
cash - cheap, good location, we've had internet in their before courtesy of
indymedia, plenty of room, catering possibilities. Would need to book it a
while beforehand tho'. Beyond that it's either money for QMH or St Mary's or
St Matthews - which would not be too pricey, or finding some other usable
space through networks. Course if we could get the Student's Union on board
there would be possibility of using their space, but feel the use of that may
be constrained. There's various band practice type spaces dotted around, and
Mozaz mentioned the yorkshire artspace. Think we need more than one option to
go at. Houses would be good for having a permenant meeting/ media/ support/
co-ordination centre type thing if the main convergence space was not
accessible 24hr.

I reckon Samba would be alright for most of a day:) But agreed soundsystem
would be good, there was a quality one turned up for the Rage Against Hallam
demo - anyone?

Hi,
I send my apologies cos I won't make the next meeting.
Re the non-violence statement - either of them are fine by me, but the most
important thing is we don't waste time discussing it. Its just going to
drain energy from more important things.
Re venues - the Quaker meeting house on St James St in town is really nice,
but i don't know how much it costs.
I don't mind my house being used - its out of town (£1.10 on the bus) but
has desks and internet access if required.
If we're having a street party the most important thing is the music - samba
bands do need breaks or their hands start bleeding, so maybe we should see
if anyones got a sound system.
Have fun, Julie x
