Oh and more, actually looks like City Hall (not Town hall) won't be completed
by then so scratch that, no chance for a good ol' Barkers Pool demo...(:?)

"Sheffield is investing £35.5 million in hotels and conference venues for
2005.!

Sheffield City Hall will reopen in Autumn 2005 following a £2.5 million
refurbishment. Capacity: 2400 delegates. The Macdonald St Paul's hotel is a
£20 million project, also opening in Autumn 2005, part of the Heart of the
City project. Top-class conference facilities for 500 and the city's largest
hotel.

Three city hotels are also undergoing radical refurbishment: The Cutlers'
Hotel is investing £1/2 million to create one of Sheffield's first boutique
hotels. Sheffield Park Hotel, recently taken over by Pederson Hotels, is set
to commence a £2million refurbishment, and the Novotel Sheffield's £1/2
million upgrade of bedrooms will complement all of the exciting surrounding
developments."

The webpage followed that with the Charles Clark G8 JHA announcement. hmmmm
etc...

On the subject of venue, it struck me the timing of the Town Hall
refurbishment seems a little too fortunate...

"On Saturday an informative tour of the city will take in some of our most
impressive venues. Sheffield City Hall will showcase its impressive face-lift
after a £12.5 million refurbishment to transform one of the most prestigious
buildings in the city into a multi functional conference venue for up to 2400
delegates. "

...and if they have said the city centre is being shut off that would suggest
a more central venue. There isn't much in the way of conference facilities out
at Don Valley although certainly accomodation there is a possibility.
