All Hands to the Pump…

Sharrow Lantern Carnival Needs You!


The very wonderful Sharrow Lantern carnival is nearly
upon us again on Sunday 3rd April at 7.00pm. People
will gather by the Basketball court in Mount Pleasant
Park. and the area around Sharrow will come alive and
be lit up with hundreds of sparkling /shimmering 
lanterns, giant creatures,  crazy musical contraptions
and much more. Much stuff has been done already: there
have been lantern making workshops for kids, adults,
families and loads of DIY kits have been
distributed(see below). There has been music and
Junk-band sessions, and the giant ‘take your breath
away’ lanterns  are on their way, some remaining
secret till the big day!

Help Needed Urgently!


However, all this takes time and work  (though plenty
of fun along the way and to ensure this, there is food
,refreshments,etc, a classically pianist often
entertains you while you create and a vast range of
tunes from Reggae to Ska can be heard while you create
your masterpieces or help around the place 

While the core team have been feverishly working away,
people are desperately needed ‘now’ to help with the
giant showpiece lanterns which must be ready by
Sunday: you can help paste, become a lantern maker’s
mate, help saw the big bamboos for the larger
lanterns, help keep the place clean, etc..or just help
create the atmosphere.


So Please Come along to  …..

Stewards Needed

Stewards are also urgently needed for the event to
ensure this amazing extravaganza winds its way though
the streets of Sharrow, safely and efficiently and to
shake tins to raise funds for the running of the
event.. 

There wil be a pre-event meeting for those wanting to
be stewards on Sunday 3rd April at 2.30 pm at
Highfield Church Hall (see above for address)
