When i was building the jukebox for the one in 12, i came across quite a few network based linux jukebox servers. Basically, instead of paying for songs to be played, people on the network kind of vote for the ones they want to hear, with the most popular choices getting priority.

just a quick comment, but one of the reasons i loved the hacktionlab
last year was the ability to sit outside around a camp fire listening
to people play *real* musical instruments, sing songs and tell
stories. i personally think that electronic anything (music, jukebox,
etc) should be banned from the entire event, but i guess some people
would disagree. a compromise could be to allow it in the bar (well,
obviously, as that's where the electricity mostly is) but to make sure
it doesn't "intrude" on the campfire space. however, i would prefer
that one night is acoustic only - perhaps people will even have built
their own instruments that they might bring along and play??

solidarity,
