Ok I just talked to sikes  on it for a while and it works fine.
I think you do have to be using a sign up here -
https://www.ekiga.net/index.php?page=register

and use a sip client like jitsi - https://jitsi.org/
or the ekiga client http://ekiga.org/download-ekiga-binaries-or-source-code

Try it out I say - and see if someone in irc.indymedia.org #aktivix can
call you - go on.
