I would like to thank Mick for a thoughtful response. It is probably too
strong to say that things have gone wrong with these projects. However,
I do see lessons to be learned on both sides here.

The development of the Zylum tools for activists was embarked upon long
before I was invited to be involved. Folk at Peace News could not find
the tools they we looking for, for small local campaign groups.
Everything seemed either too corporate or too techie. Perhaps they
should have looked harder. Certainly they should have reached out to
activix, n23, tech tools for activism, indy.im et al.

I seems amazing to me that they did not do that. However, the fact that
they did not - demonstrates that there is a section of the campaigning
world who these projects are not reaching.

Whatever projects or groups we work with, how can those of us with an
understanding of the tools available, better assist activists who need
those tools? How can we dismantle barriers between those campaigning for
more free software or digital rights and those campaigning on climate
justice, feminism, anti-fascism, disarmament or other issues?

I hope that we can work together to better bridge the gaps,
Benjamin.
