[HacktionLab] BarnCamp 2017

Hi Mick,

It’s an excellent idea. Would you perhaps like to get in touch with Heath and Wu Wu to see if they’re up for it again?

I know Alex (my wife) was wanting to do it some years back, this’ll be BC 2013 I think, but dropped out as she was too busy, which is why we got them in. She’s done her forest school leader training, so I’ll also ask her to she if she’s up for it this year and/or has any ideas.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi there,

I'm wondering what people think about getting more Forest School type activities happening again? I think that worked really well when it did happen and I was sad to see it peter out last time. It seemed to be a good way of making sure there was something for young people. I know that some of the people that brought kids last time were a bit disappointed.

Also I don't know much about this area but I reckon you could do some really interesting things with IoT / wireless and Forest Dens, like rigging up cameras and microphones to try to record widelife or similar.

Anyway just a thought

nice one
Mick

Hi Sam,

I’ve created a new page for workshop ideas:

Fancy putting those up?

(I’ve added one of my own, which may be took specifically for coders for BarnCamp, but let’s see).

Mike.

Hi Mike

Great stuff. I'm in..

Two projects I'm interested in at the moment are:

https://outernet.is/
I'll have a Lantern we can have a play with, and maybe we could play
around with a satellite dish and try and receive the higher bandwidth
Lighthouse signal on a Pi?

We're also working on
www.thethingsnetwork.org network which is a low bandwidth FOSS IOT
network, so may have a gateway/ some solar nodes to play with.

It's all about the low bandwidth for me at the moment.

Thanks

Sam
