Does anyone know who runs this one?

There was a bit of discussion in irc.indymedia.org#tech about if there
was an activist run instance of Mastodon, but it drew a blank. Although
as I understand it, mastadon is gnu social compatible, so http://indy.im
although not upgraded, should talk to it.
