hi all,

since 8 may no picture upload to the uk wire displays the uploaded
file as the uk directory on the media server isn't accessible for
uploads anymore (!); there's no news on repair since this mail:

i haven't found where to switch off the automatic forwarding to that
media server without switching off other imc's on stallman too, so i 
thought best to repair the files manually as we'll hopefully soon
move to mir anyway (another good reason for switching soon). 

you need to 
- get the filename; 
- copy the file from the present location to one which is not
  crontabbed into the black hole on the media server; 
- save the changed path for the upload.

it's a REAL pain in the ass i know, i did 62 changes, starting
from the most recent going back into the wire. i've skipped pics
which have been hidden for editorial reasons. last change done is
68738 (19 may). but i won't be doing this on sunday when the big
demos start so someone will have to do it...

here's what i've been doing:

get the list of all recent picture uploads here:
http://uk.indymedia.org/display.php3?group=webcast&led=y&sort=&rate=none&edit_comments=y&filter=images

get the filename by editing the upload entry in admin. you will
see the media path there will be:
	../local/webcast/uploads/metafiles/foo.jpg
change it to:
	../local/images/foo.jpg
	
ssh into stallman and go into the pic upload directory:
	cd /www/uk/local/webcast/uploads/metafiles/
copy both foo.jpg and foo-thumb.jpg (that's the thumbnail preview
that is visible in the wire) into /www/uk/local/images/ by doing
this:
	cp foo* /www/uk/local/images

in case pple who have kosmos access need the uk stallman passes,
go to kosmos and do a 
	more /home/uk/stallman_uk

to force refresh the newswire use this url:
http://uk.indymedia.org/refresh.php3?group=webcast&sort=date_desc&rate=none&page=0

just a reminder: not all id's that say 'hidden' are hidden, only
the ones which are not linked. check if files are linked by
looking if there's an entry in the 'linked' column on the right.

in case you get hooked to all that please continue to fix all
older uploads between 68737 and 67459 (88 still to do)
