MAYDAY : WEAPONS OF MASS CONSTRUCTION

Mayday May 1st

Around the world people are out on the streets celebrating Mayday (http://diy.spc.org/ourmayday/history.html). In London the stage is set for a series of protests making the links between Arms and Oil as well as other issues (see ourmayday http://diy.spc.org/ourmayday/index03.html / police advice http://uk.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=65715&group=webcast, with further protests set for Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Liverpool, Leicester and Bradford and beyond. In the last few days there has also been a series of supporting actions and protests by Campaign Against The Arms Trade (http://uk.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=63105&group=webcast).  Mayday is also the 3rd birthday of Indymedia UK, and three years since Mayday was reclaimed in 2000.

The annual Trade Union march to Trafalger Square continues to gather support, this year supported by

Stop the War Coalition http://www.stopwar.org.uk
War on Want, http://www.waronwant.org
World Development Movement http://www.wdm.org.uk
and the TUC http://www.glatuc.org.uk/mayday.html

coming together to oppose war, racism and privatisation.
