SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE DEATHS OF WOMEN IN PRISON
Public Meeting & Exibition
Time and Place
Date: Saturday 27th September 2008
Time: 2pm – 6pm @ Human Rights Action Centre
Location: Amnesty International, 17-25 New Inn Yard, (off Curtain
Road), EC2A 3EA
City/Town: London, United Kingdom
Pauline Campbell remained undeterred and continued to hold peaceful
demonstrations outside women's prisons. A tireless crusader against
prison deaths.
Speakers to include:
Friends, those who campaigned alongside Pauline about deaths of
women in prison, and politicians. There will also be an opportunity
for those who knew Pauline or who have lost loved ones in women’s
prisons to speak out.
Pauline was committed not just to campaigning but also to supporting
bereaved families. Pauline was one of a number of bereaved parents
who turned their own personal loss into a collective response to
injustice and state neglect. The need for this campaigning work to
continue is demonstrated by the fact that since the death of
Pauline's daughter another 41 women have taken their own lives in
prison.
Julie Bindel pays tribute to a woman who was driven by a passion for
justice:
