Hi
I have put the CMS for the web site on tonights Matilda
meeting agenda and also done some work on the site here:
http://www.matilda.aktivix.org/
Some things to note:
- Anyone can sign up for an account, if you want to have
edit permission over the whole site or a section of it
send me an email (we will set up a dedicated
matilda-admin at aktivix.org alias for dealing with this
soon) and I can give your account editor rights.
- I have set up some audiences -- if all new documents
have the right audiences selected then people who opt
into the email updates and set their preferences will
get emails about new pages that match their preferences
when they are added to the site.
- Art
- Creative Activities
- Film Screenings
- Gigs
- Hacklab
- Internal Matilda Stuff
- Parties
- Political Meetings
- I have set up some initial pages for the collectives:
http://www.matilda.aktivix.org/collectives/
And added all the upcoming events from the wiki -- the
best way to add an event to this site is to create a
page for it, add text and images as required and also
add a time range component -- the time range components
are then listed on the front page and the events page
with the upcoming ones first, past events drop off the
listing.
A couple of example events pages:
- http://www.matilda.aktivix.org/collectives/indymedia/docfest2005/
The idea would be that everyone in a collective can be
given editor rights over their pages if they want them.
Some other thoughts:
- I expect that most people will want / need some help
with how to edit content on this site...
- The look of the site has not had any time spent on it,
it's possible to make all the collective pages look
different etc.
- The front page needs more work, the events listing can
go in a box, perhaps on the right and a listing of
recent forum posts could go below it.
Things to fix:
- There are sometimes 500 errors, a dedicated mod_perl
apache should fix this, if you get one hit reload till
it goes away.
- Crons jobs need setting up, without these the email
newsletter, rss imports and search indexing won't
happen.
I'm sorry I can't make the meeting tonight...
Chris
