Hello everybody, some of you might have heard about this....


The first failed Iraqi asylum seekers were forcibly removed from Britain
yesterday and flown out on a military transport plane. Fifteen men, all
from the northern Kurdish region, were put on board an aircraft in the
early hours. Another 5,000 Iraqi asylum seekers are thought to be awaiting
decisions on whether they will also be sent back.
One of those expelled yesterday, Hawar Ismail, told a UK-based refugee
group he had been "beaten" after resisting removal. All those being
expelled were subsequently handcuffed, he said.

                        Hello Everyone

  I'd like to invite you to a meeting of the Campaign Against Detention
and Deportation of Iraqis (CADDI) this Wednesday 23rd November at 6.30pm
at The Kurdistan restaurant on Spital Hill, Burngreave, Sheffield.

  You might have heard that over the weekend 15 Iraqi Kurds were forcibly
deported to Irbil in northern Iraq (see www.ncadc.org.uk for more
information). Many others have been detained and face forcible
deportation. We have reports that some of those "returned" to Irbil face
detention and possible execution by the local authorities there.

  We are determined to build the biggest possible opposition to the
deportation of any Iraqi Kurds from our city.

  Apologies for the short notice for the meeting but I'm sure you will
realise the urgency of our campaign.
