Right, from off-list comms it seems the gig collective have this all in
hand, it won't be a party, just a gig, and that's managable. Julie,
you're right that it is late and a bit shitty, but i think we (well, the
GC) have been misled as to the nature of the planned event and are well
within our/their rights to curtail it. They'll still get some money from
it.
though this is a fuck-up, i reckon the GC are the ones who've been shat
on by the organisers, rather than vice versa, and they're smart enough
to learn from it without us hectoring them, so i reckon we could
profitably stop chatting about this particular event. Apologies to the
GC if i stirred up unneccesary trouble with my slightly panicky email
yesterday - sure it was all under control...
Steve: the earthquake thing was discussed at a meeting a week or two
ago, and again seems to be under control by the GC. I think "late" here
means 1-2ish, not all night, and only for those who attended the gig, ie
not doors open till 1. I agree there is an ambiguity over the gig/party
distinction; i think the crucial factors, though, aren't whether there
are DJs etc, but the scale door policy, and especially the finishing
time of the event, as these are the things that affect how many people
are needed to run events. Still, you're probably right that this needs
clarifying.
Jez: to reiterate what i just said to you on Sharrow Vale road, i can't
make thurs work day - though i don't have a key anyway. Anyone else
planning on working? The work days need, err, working on - ideas for
how to make them more productive?
Right, that's quite enough discursive emails from me for one day - I'm
well over my self-imposed one a day rule. anyone would think i was
avoiding doing something...
Nick
