[matilda] meeting afterthoughts

As you may know by now (given my typical verbosity), it's the first time
that certain things happen to me (or become audible so to speak),
So --since yesterday meeting ended on a note of leaving a free open
possibility to discuss certain issues on the email (ideally on the
wiki)-- i would like to share with you my own hesitation about the
proposed party event "fat moon" -- which was "blocked" with a view to
discussion and further progression next Monday if agreed by consensus.
Perhaps I misunderstood some things, but 2 shocked me as anti-Matildite
(in the gentle looking proposal): 1) the word used in a derogatory sense
"YOB" was the main factor to turn me against their proposal of private
members-only party arranged only by online Web invitation (and
registration of each person's details). Why? IMHO, strict registration
could turn many persons off and could mean a breach of privacy leading
to further problems in the future. This is opposite to openness in a
certain sense too.
2) Sorry... about the word "YOB": i have seen this used again in
derogatory terms against youth : at tabloids, at the Policeman's Blog
and other very conservative and right-winged fora...
Further, this (limiting entry to certain age- groups) is contrary
to the spirit of collectives such as Gig Space and Matilda 's spirit as
a whole, in my humble opinion.
So for the above abstract or less abstract reasons i personally
disliked, on second thoughts, these disadvantages. Compared to the
advantages: experience in organizing that kind of private, closed,
members-only parties. This could be useful of course in the heat of the
winter months (4-3 months of intense rain and winds in South yorkshire
as everybody knows), when being at the door to collect tickets may
become a serious ordeal.
All my love,
amp
