"Donations" doesn't mean "random donations".

You can have a "suggested" donation, where the suggestion is pretty
heavily made.

The point - as I understand it - is that if it's stated as a "ticket
price", the police can turn up and demand to come inside. If it's
stated as a "donation", they can't come in without a search warrant.
